Who am I?
Many people describe me as warm, genuine, curious, and empathetic. Honesty and authenticity are qualities I greatly value. My journey into counselling began after I recognised its transformative power in helping individuals feel heard and understood. This inspired in me a passion for creating a safe space for others to explore their identities and make sense of their inner worlds.
Nina’s approach to counselling is integrative and client-led, meaning she adapts her way of working to suit each individual and their unique needs. While her foundation is person-centred — offering warmth, empathy, and a space where clients feel truly heard — she also draws on elements of psychodynamic theory when helpful.
Nina believes therapy is most effective when it feels like a genuine human connection. Rather than taking a clinical or directive stance, she works alongside clients to explore what is going on at their pace — whether they are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of themselves.
She is also passionate about psychoeducation and the value of sharing knowledge. At times, gaining insight into why we feel or respond in certain ways can be a powerful first step towards change. When appropriate, Nina may gently offer ideas to help clients make sense of their experiences — whether that relates to emotions, relationships, or coping patterns.
For Nina, therapy is not only a space for reflection and processing but also one for learning and growth. Her aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where clients feel empowered to gain insight and move forward in a way that feels right for them.
Nina is currently completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with CPCAB. She also holds certificates in Counselling Skills and Counselling Studies and is midway through a Master’s in Psychology. In addition to her ongoing education, she holds a BSc from the University of York. Nina is also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Nina’s professional background has always centred around people. With many years of experience in management and running her own business, she has worked closely with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. These roles have deepened her understanding of complex personal and interpersonal issues, and she believes they have helped her build a grounded, compassionate approach and a deep respect for the uniqueness of each client’s story.
