Associate Counsellor

People often describe me as caring, open-minded, and approachable. I believe that everyone, no matter their history, has the capacity to live a meaningful and satisfying life. As a counsellor, my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings with honesty and compassion. I see it as a privilege to walk alongside clients as they reflect, heal, and move toward the changes they want in life.

My Approach

I work integratively, adapting my approach to each individual. At the foundation of my practice is Person-Centred Therapy, where empathy and acceptance are central to the counselling relationship. I also draw on Psychodynamic insights, recognising how past experiences and relationships shape the present.

Where helpful, I may incorporate elements of Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Above all, I believe therapy should be collaborative, with the client’s autonomy at the heart of the process.

Experience and Training

I hold a COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate and am in the final year of my Diploma in Relational Counselling at The Spark.

Before training in counselling, I worked internationally as an English teacher in China, South Korea, and Italy. Originally from Canada, I moved to Glasgow in 2014 to complete a Master’s in Film & TV Studies, followed by a doctorate in Creative Writing. My creative background enriches my counselling practice, helping me to listen closely, understand different perspectives, and engage with the complexity of people’s stories.

I’m also a father of two girls, an experience that has deepened my understanding of relationships and human development.
