Who am I?
I have been described as being ‘well grounded’, calm and level-headed by others and consider myself to be loyal, accepting and hard working. On the other hand, I recognise my tendency for impatience whilst trying to achieve too much on a day-to-day basis. I struggle with injustice and feel this is where my drive and empathy come from in my counselling work. I truly believe in the ability of an individual to grow and find their value and feel privileged when they allow me to be part of their journey.
I believe my life experience alongside my counselling qualification will help me fulfil an effective and worthwhile counselling role. I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly the dogs who always seem to be up to something. I take a keen interest in the welfare of primates and have sponsored a chimpanzee and orangutang, Trudy and Amy, for a number of years now. Hopefully I will be able to meet them some day!
I feel I am always learning and growing as an individual through different life experiences and enjoy helping others to do the same.
I am trained in and currently practice Integrative counselling with the belief that every individual deserves to be the best version of themselves and accepted for who they are. Whilst we talk about mental health a bit more openly day to day, I still find it can be ‘last on our list ‘when it comes to looking after ourselves. By allowing ourselves that personal time to dedicate to our wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment where therapist and client travel together, we can explore, grow and find your value as an individual.
I am committed to following the direction of you the client, whilst gently working to find the right tools to help you through your journey to create long and lasting self-sufficiency within our challenging world. Together we will explore your thoughts and feelings and work to understand them before identifying the changes you would like to make. You deserve this.
Early experience has been from a business perspective within an NHS setting, currently working within a diverse service supporting vulnerable young people and adults. Human Resource Management has been a key duty within all roles allowing me the opportunity to teach, support and nurture individuals working alongside me. I hold the Cosca Certificate in Counselling Skills (March 2023) before moving on to study for a Post Graduate Diploma in Relational Counselling (Integrative).
I have gained experience and enjoyed working within different counselling environments dealing with trauma, addiction and bereavement. This has allowed me to grow and learn as a Counsellor during my journey. For my continued professional development, I am currently completing a Substance Misuse Awareness course.
I am a member of Cosca and hold an advanced PVG certificate,
