Who am I?
My friends and family describe me as kind, friendly and nurturing. I see myself as a compassionate listener. As a counsellor, I am dedicated to supporting you through life’s challenges with warmth, empathy, and understanding. Having worked extensively with both adults and young people, I recognise the unique needs and dynamics present in each stage of life. My goal is to walk alongside you on your journey, empowering you to find your own strengths and instilling hope for the future.
My core training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness, to create a personalised approach for each client. My focus is on building trust and genuine connection, ensuring you feel safe, listened to, and truly valued in the work we do together. This trusting relationship allows you to explore your challenges, secure in the knowledge that your feelings and experiences are being attended to without judgment. Together, we will explore what’s troubling you and look at any patterns in your thoughts that might be keeping you stuck.
By noticing and understanding your negative thoughts, you can break free from unhelpful cycles. Our work during the sessions will focus on building flexibility in how you respond to challenges, help you stay present and make choices that match your values. This way, you can handle difficulties more effectively and move toward positive change.
I began my career working in Human Resources, where I developed strong people skills and a deep interest in supporting others. After qualifying as a counsellor, I had the opportunity to work with adults and young people from diverse backgrounds, which gave me valuable experience and insight. In my current role as a counsellor working in high schools, I support young people and am committed to creating a safe, trusting space where they feel heard and understood. The most rewarding moments I have experienced as a counsellor come from seeing my clients feel safe enough to open up about their challenges and witnessing their growth and increased confidence over time.
My background includes a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, a Masters Degree in Business Administration (HR) , and a Diploma in CBT and Groupwork. I have also completed COSCA’s Counselling Skills certificate. I am a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am also registered with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme through Disclosure Scotland. To keep my practice up to date and provide the best support possible, I regularly take part in professional supervision.
